What to Bring to the Sauna: A Towel Guide

A good sauna session has a rhythm to it — heat, a plunge or a shower, a rest, and repeat. The right textiles make each part of that rhythm easier, and a Baltic sauna bag usually holds a few different pieces, not just one towel.

Something to sit on

Sauna etiquette calls for sitting on a towel rather than directly on the bench. Our linen sauna towels (57% linen / 43% cotton, in Off White and Brown) are a natural fit here: linen is breathable and doesn't hold heat and moisture against your skin the way a heavier fabric can, and the larger 100 × 150 cm and 100 × 200 cm sizes give full coverage on a long bench.

Something to dry off with

For drying, our 100% cotton waffle towels are lightweight, quick-drying and fold flat — practical when you're carrying everything to and from the sauna. With 26 colours available, it's easy to pick a set that works for your whole household, or just for yourself.

Something for the walk home

After the last round, a poncho is often more practical than a towel: it goes on in seconds, covers you fully, and keeps you warm while you change or head back inside. We make both cotton terry ponchos and cotton waffle ponchos, unisex and one-size, for exactly that moment.

Caring for your sauna textiles

All of the pieces above can be machine washed at 40–60°C and tumble dried. Washing after every sauna visit keeps linen and cotton fresh and extends the life of the weave.
